AFAN's Pantry Program

Dear Center Community Members:

The Holiday Season is now upon us, and it is the time to think about those less fortunate. With this goal in mind your Center has placed an AFAN pantry container in our lobby.

AFAN's mission is to provide support and advocacy for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada in an environment of understanding, compassion and acceptance.

AFAN's pantry program allows their clients to come in once a week to pick up a pre-made bag of groceries and “extras.” In an average month AFAN provides 1500-1700 bags of groceries which feed approximately 650 clients and their families.

Please visit us at The Center and make a donation. Your nonperishable food items, such as canned foods, pasta products, tea, cereal, and bulk rice will be sincerely appreciated.  Toiletry items are also needed, including deodorant, soap bars, disposable razors, toothpaste, toilet paper, lotion, and shampoo.  The Center is located at 953 E. Sahara, Suite B-25.

With best wishes for a very joyous Holiday Season!

THE RED BARN REMEMBERED
Some of you may be too young to remember The Red Barn, but those of us that do, remember all of the great times and fun had there.  Right, Danny?  The old Gay bar has made history, even after quite a few years have gone by since its demise.  In the 11/17/00 issue of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a photo appeared with the following caption:  "Visitors to the Fremont Street Experience pass by a newly lighted Red Barn sign.  The sign, from the 60's, is one of five historic Las Vegas signs the Neon Museum recently restored and revealed on Fremont Street on Wednesday."  IF THEY ONLY KNEW!  Click on the photo below to see a larger size!
